TRUCKS

Nearly everyone needs a truck at some point. In the past few years, more and more people seem to be considering a truck as their everyday vehicle; pretty smart if you ask me. I don't suppose I am completely unbiased. I sell trucks for a living. Doug Landrum and I started Landmark Auto Inc. in 2009. At that time, we were well beyond the real estate boom and Doug and I had all of our eggs in that basket. Needless to say, it wasn't working anymore. Doug was a builder and he also owned Doug Landrum Plumbing in Hiram. I was a real estate Agent. By the middle of 2009, we were considering all sorts of options. We could always try plumbing full time, but there just wasn't enough demand. I had been in the car business from 1985 to 2005. Yep, I had twenty years experience and Doug... well Doug had none.

We decided to go for it. We managed to work out a deal to get my old location in Hiram. The name came fairly easy; we just used the first four letters of Doug's last name, Landrum and we tacked my first name on and it was Landmark.

Doug and I go back a long way and our closest friends were builders, developers, plumbers, truck drivers, mechanics, electricians and the like. Nearly all of them liked to hunt when they could. Most of them grew up on the west side of Atlanta where we did. Out in the country where we grew up, everybody hunted and even when they weren't hunting, they were out in the woods looking for a trail. It was obvious to me, we had to sell trucks. The trucks had to be four wheel drives too. When we started buying, Doug and I both had Chevrolet Z71 trucks. I loved mine and he loved his. If we were going to sell four wheel drive trucks, I figured we should go with what we know and love. If you drive out to Hiram and pass by Landmark Auto Inc., you will see the results of this dream. We stock as many used Z71 trucks as we can find and people are beginning to notice.

People have driven from Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and all over Georgia to buy trucks at Landmark. We recently brought Chad Landrum in. Chad is Doug's 19 year old son and he happens to drive a Z71. He shares our passion for the product and it shows. We are doing what we love to do.

I'll be writing more about Trucks in Hiram. I want to hear from you too. I want to hear about your truck, your trails, you hunting trips and all the red mud in between.
